Essential Oils for chickens?

I am very interested to hear information and stories about people using essential oils for their poultry!
Do you?
Do you know someone who does?

I am currently attempting to treat worms with them. I just started so I don't know if it worked yet but I am going to take notes so that if it works I'll know in the future what to do and what worked best. I'm using a blend of oregano and Rosemary diluted in coconut oil. I decided there HAS to be a natural way to treat worms but found no info on anyone who had used something successfully but no one tried oils so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Depends on what oils we are talking about ;)

I use rosemary, geranium, eucalyptus, and clove oil for pest control, and considering adding some in to feed, but I haven't thought of them for worming... I was wondering about it though..

I use wormwood, dill, garlic, and Neem powder for worm control, but am interested to see what you find out as far as the oils, as these are fresh greens or powdered seeds when I add them :)

Cinnamon works good for disinfecting or killing bacteria, but I don't know that they would like the taste :p

Mine don't like the oregano or rosemary so I used a dropper and squirted it into their mouths. They weren't happy about that but at least they got it and I was able to keep track of how much each one got.
 
Ewww I wouldn't like it either lol... I dabbed a drop if lemon oil on my tongue out if curiosity once.. Oi! Won't EVER do that again; literally burned my esophagus and call I could taste for days was lemon pledge :p

I would probably be more inclined to put a drop in a grape or something to mask the taste, especially if it's an alcohol based tincture; they can burn :(

There was another person using coconut oil/ seed balls as a treat; wonder those might work, and the coconut oil would help hold the tincturecin suspension, so to speak...
 
update on the essential oil wormer. I gave my girls a squirt in their beaks twice, 2 days apart and it has been about a week now and I'm happy to report that all have noticeably gained weight and no longer have such ravenous appetites. My girls are big on food but they started eating a more normal amount after the treatment. Poops are back to normal (they were runny and gross) and my one girl that's old enough to lay has started giving me eggs again. No, I did not have a vet test for worms, before or after, but I'm certain that's what they had. Runny poo, weight loss, increased appetite and their run was the perfect environment for worms. What else could it have been? my girls are happy and healthy now. I will do this again if I ever have another problem. It's totally natural and good for them, no chemicals needed.

So what was the blend of the oregano oil and Rosemary that used into the coconut oil for dilution. So how many parts to what would you say you tried?

I used
1 drop oregano
1 drop Rosemary
2 tablespoons coconut oil

Each bird got 1/2 ml if this mix

The essential oils are so strong that they need to be diluted well, especially for something as small and sensitive as a chicken. I'm not an expert or anything like that, I've just used oils for years and spent a lot of time reasearching online and in books. Commercial poultry farms that are raising all natural and organic birds have been using oregano in place of antibiotics and having pretty good results. I figured it was worth a try before I gave my girls some nasty chemical

Question: would 1/4 cup bacon grease be a bad idea to add to a cooked flock block or stick to coconut oil/molasses?
