In the Brooder
Hey all,
New to BYC. Figured this would be a good place to show off the coop I build for my new flock out here in Chicago, IL.
I got inspiration for my coop from a play house I used to regularly drive past as a kid that was intentionally built to look crooked and wonky. That idea was stuck in my head when it came time to build. Being handy/artsy I decided to build a coop with a similar style from scratch (no plans or drawings either).
Here's a bunch of pictures of the building process:
I used a 42" × 42" pallet as my base. (That's my girlfriend and her dog, Bear)
Framing complete!
Plywood sides finished!
Nesting box started!
Some paint and a completed nesting box!
Starting the plywood on the roof and the run! (Door to the run got made from pallet wood)
Plywood on the roof complete and the run starting to get painted!
Door on the run and a better picture of the door from the coop to the run.
Getting close!
Side door for cleaning (also made with pallet wood)
Ready for shingles!
My downstairs neighbor is a children's book author and performs children's shows (Ms. Jamie From The Farm) loves the coop!
Finished 3 weeks after starting!
Black sex link chicks moved in.
Interior shot.
Another (older and unfinished) interior shot.
