Hello all,
Glad to have joined and loving all the information here. Just picked up my first four pullets two days ago. Two Barred Rock and two Buff Orpington. The lady I purchased them from kept all her birds in a very large room inside a barn...not sure they ever saw the outdoors. Since putting them in the coop they don't seem to wander outside very much and they do not seem to be eating very much. I have a full feeder and waterer in the coop and also have some scratch grains out in the run.
Question is, will they settle in and start eating and going outside more? Thoughts?

Well first of all welcome! I would just let them settle in with all the new surroundings. If they still dont go outside maybe they dont know that they can so take one out side into the run and feed treats to encourage them to know thats its okay to be out there (Dried mealworms are always a favorite) :)

Thank you! I am feeding them DuMor Layer Crumbles and some scratch grains out in the run. They have been outside since I got them but seems like it's only a few minutes and they run back in. I will let them get accustomed to their surroundings and see how it goes.

That sounds good! Also if there layer hens you can also offer DuMo oyster shells on the side free choice for calcium they come in a bag also Grit in the winter (and summer if they dont have access to dirt )

Sounds like you're going great. Just give them time. Chickens don't like change! They're also very aware everyone loves a chicken dinner, and they don't know where is safe in this new place. Prey animals tend to be, well, chicken about exploring new areas until they've established a sense of security.
