ETA - or did you mean 3" buckshot? If so any size buckshot is better than the other two choices ... #4's have lots of pellets ... Easier to hit with a bunch in the air ...
Something to keep in mind...
The problem with buckshot over a single projectile bullet is the proximity needed for a successful kill, for a coyote and buckshot you are realistically limited to about 25-50 yards, beyond that the pattern and velocity of the pellets diminishes your chance for a clean kill, and you are more likely to maim at greater distances...
To get an idea of the pattern of your particular shotgun get a sheet of foam poster board (dollar store) and draw a 12" and 24" round circle on it to simulate a kill zone on a coyote, take aim and shoot at 25-50 yards...
