New chicken lover...had 4, just lost 1 :-( Now I noticed a beak problem. Is it a problem for the top beak to be a bit shorter on top? Does it need to be trimmed? Is my chicken gonna die?

Glad you could join the flock! I agree with the above posters as long as she is eating and drinking as normal I would leave her be. I'm sorry to hear you flock member
It's always very sad when a flock members is lost. What symptoms did she have?

x2....where were they sourced from? I ask as it almost reads like a description of a bird that has been debated (top part trimmed back to dull to prevent any pecking, etc ....often seen in birds used in production houses.Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us!

She seemed fine, but she slept a lot. When she wasn't sleeping she ate & acted like the others. I cleaned the house & nesting area very well just to be safe (she was sitting in a nest box when she passed). Anything else you can suggest doing, I just don't want my other girls to catch some bird illness.
Okay, so these are adult birds, how long have you had them in your care? Can you get a head shot of the hen in question?
How old are they? They may be older than you think - the one you lost might have been egg bound. Or maybe none of them were ever wormed or treated for mites or lice. They can debilitate birds fast. Did they all come from the same source? If so they would all have their beaks cut like that - maybe hers was broken off in an accident.
