I'm not used to chickens at all, but my husband is and my daughter and I recently brought home a chick so we can start a small flock and hopefully get amazing eggs out of it.

The woman at he feed store said that she'll lay pink or blue eggs. This is a very beautiful chick, very talkative too.
I would also like advice on how to get her used to kids. I have a 4 year old who's obsessed.

Looks like a little Easter egger.

do you only have the one chick? They really do better in groups, they're a flock animal. not to be an enabler or anything

, but you should pick up say two more chicks so they have a happy group. Getting them to all get along is best when they're younger, like this.

Woohoo! Awesome. I was going back today to get more, I was just using this one to butter up my husband. While my 4 year old is at school, I'll be heading back to the feed store to get a few more.

Glad you joined us!

I agree, it looks like an Easter Egger to me too. Just handling it everyday will keep it friendly and docile. And I second @donrae 's advise, You may want to get him/her a companion.
