Its been a long 6 months watching my little Runa AKA "Finger toes" struggle with having a swollen bottom, in the beginning she was sleeping all the time and i was soaking her 30 mins every couple days, trying to push the whatever was stuck in her out. nothing budged except a lot of poop. She started acting normal again, still swollen but running around fat and happy. Recently I found her laying ontop of the chicken feed trying to eat it while the others did. I took her inside and soaked her again. let her dry out in the sun with me, her crop completely empty. I gave her food but she kept bending down to eat it and having to take a step forward to balance the weight in her butt. it was completely hard on one side and very heavy. A friend of mine came out and came to the same conclusion I did and that was to put her down.

I had never seen her this tiny in her life, clearly shed been having some trouble eating and I didn't see her poop the entire time i spent with her today which was a couple hours.

ITS ABOUT TO GET SUPER GRAPHIC FYI

This is what was Hard inside her, This stuff looked too big to even fit inside her again so i can't image the pain she was in ]= if anybody can tell me better what I'm looking at? Im pretty sure the left sack contained one gigantic egg and a bunch of others and i don't think they had calcium around them? I know she layed really weird eggs most of the time, usually with too much calcium on them or strange shapes. as for the other side it SMELLED so bad, like cat poop almost. it had these sharpish hard chunks inside it along with the mud colored sludge.

Any help would be really appreciated. thank you <3

RIP my little finger toes <3

Yeah that looks pretty close. poor lil thing ]= i wish i had known sooner

Wow, that's about as bad as they can get, I think. Sorry for your loss. Maybe we can get @speckledhen to comment.

She was definitely laying internally. This is not egg binding-that is when an egg is stuck in the canal, not this stuff. Seen it too many times. Here are some of my own photos from various hens, almost every one a hatchery hen. When I quit buying hatchery stock and began raising better breeder stock, this became a super rare occurrence. It's genetic/hormone based, no prevention, no cure.

So is this a hen that is producing eggs with out shells in the oval ducts? In my hen it looked like yolks from a hardboiled egg.

I am so sorry for your loss. :hugs Thanks for posting these pictures.

Wow...when my dog had Pyometra, the vet showed me this huge gigantic swollen mess that he pulled out of my little dog. It was larger than she was.
Good thing you were on top of it and stopped her suffering, because that had to be painful...sorry for your loss though...very sad.
