Hi all.
I need some help with my baby chick. She is around 5 weeks old.
She has a broken leg. I took her to doc who at first said its a lack of manganese ans she couldnt really wrap the leg. Anyway she seems to have gotten worse. He leg is pulled away right from the hip and looks aweful. She was able to move around but now isnt moving as much and she more flies to move around.

We checked today and she seems blind in one eye and roday i noticed on her other foot she toes are bending.

Hubby thonks the humane thing to do is put it down but i dont know what to do. She has been living in my house since about a week old, always with me etc. The other chickens want nothing to do with her as well.

If anyone can offer anything please do. I dont mind people being honest. i hope ive covered everythung. Im typing this through tears.

Thanks in advance
Cat

Welcome to BYC. It's sad dealing with a chick who has a leg bone deformity, and most treatments do not work. If you haven't started giving some poultry vitamins with trace minerals, I would . Poultry Nutridrench or Poultry Cell from your feed store are easily found, and you can give 1-2 ml orally every day. There are some conditions you can look up such as varus valgus deformity, and slipped tendon to read about these problems. Unless you want to have to give her special care for the future, you may want to consider culling her. Some people will raise these chicks with another meek or gentle chick in a separate pen where they won't be hurt.
