Chicks Dying

DAYS WITHOUT A DEATH:3 and counting! I am getting very optimistic that the worst is behind.

Thinking back over things I think that it was primarily coccidosis but then the weaker birds (those in the lower pecking order) were not allowed access to food as easily even though it was always available. Since I have added 3 more feeders (added another yesterday) everyone seems more content. There is no more of the hyper "I'm always starving" activity that I was seeing last week. I did not think to put extra feeders out because there was always food left in the feeder. It just never occurred to me that the chickens in the higher order were not allowing the lower order chickens eat. Now everyone has a full crop when I am checking, birds feel heavier... overall the atmosphere "feels" better.

I pray I am over the hump.
