They are so cute but omg i am so nervous lol. 4 buff orpingtons from our local farmstore. They are 2 days old. They seem quite happy so far. In a downstairs shower stall that we don't use. Heatlamp side registers at 94 degrees, cool side registers at 78 degrees. They are scampering all around happily. All have eaten and drank and have independently found the areas. They have napped twice...all under the heatlamp to nap but when awake they scatter about. Chirping sounds happy...one little chick chirps more loudly then the rest. She acts the same as the others but shes caused me to run in on a couple occasions to observe their behavior cuz it sounded frantic. Its not all tge time though...just random. I will barely sleep tonight i know it lol. Does all look ok? Ive even checked all butts..all clear lol. They have 1/4 tsp vitamin/electolytes in gallon of water and medicated feed

I'm a beginner myself and don't even have my chicks yet so I can't offer any advice. From what I've read if they are moving around happily and not huddled all together in one area then you're doing it right!

Nice idea of putting them in the shower stall, it should clean easily when they go to their permanent home.

looks really good! maybe put some marbles or rock in the waters incase they fall asleep drinking just to be safe. if you haven't already done it. otherwise, I'm sure they are very happy!! congratulations :)

The longer they've been in there the more active and happy they seem. The frantic chirping from that one has stopped..happy chirping only. They are funny they all decide simultaneously to nap all at once everything gets quiet all eyes droop for about 5-10 min then they all wake up and scamper about again. We've put our hands in and tickle their bellies and they perch happily on our fingers when we do so. Fingers crossed for a good night.
