So i have this 6 or 7 month old silkie rooster. He was always happy and healthy. Until the other morning I walked out to my pen and he was laying down and i thought ok he's just chilling. So I came out 2 hours later and he still hadn't gotten up so i lifted his body to see if he was ok and he wouldn't stand up and he was applying all the pressure on to my hands when i did get him to stand he wobbled not putting any pressure on his right hand and if he would walk he would take about 2 steps and lay back down. To be honest I don't think he can put weight on either foot he just can;t stand. Please help me I love this chicken, we're buddies... Please help as soon as you can.

and he is panting a lot????? Could it be Marek's disease??? oh and he caan't raise his head? Thank you!

Could he be dehydrated? Can he move his wings? It sounds like it could be Mareks, but if he can't move his wings, botulism could be a problem. It is caused by eating a toxin found in decayed animal, fish, or plant remains that have been underground or without air. It starts in the feet, progressing to the wings, and the neck, eventually paralyzing the breathing muscles. It happens fast within 12-24 hours. Mareks is a virus, that an cause paralysis of one or both legs, wings, or the neck. Dehydration can mimic some of these symptoms. Give him water with vitamins and electrolytes. Place he food and water close to him in a crate or box. Is he eating or drinking at all? Keep him warm. Let us know how he is getting along.

Thank you for responding so quick! When I pick him up he flaps his wings normally and he will move them. He will drink and eat he just doesn't do it very often. Will he be okay?

Thank you so much for helping me! He will lift it up but usually will rest it on the pillow that's there for his head. What kind of vitamins do you mean? He has been trying to stand more with the support of the wall. I'm not at home right now but I will as soon as i get back. This might sound like a stupid question but will he ever walk again or will he need a wheelchair?

Hi! I had a question? Hope someone could help me! I bought about 10 new healthy hens and some chicks last week I noticed that some of the chicks had mites so I went ahead and sprayed them and the hens with Poultry Protector I sprayed under wings on backs and near vent! I have also everyday misted the coop and the saroundings everyday this week, This morning I found that 3 of my hens have 1 eyelid swollen shut and the sarounding area is as well? Their nose is a bit stuffy and I am very afraid!!! I don't want them to be in pain and I definitely don't want them to get worse or spred to other chickens

Poultry or chick vitamins with electrolytes. SaveAChick is one brand, and there are others such as Vitamins With Lactobacillus by Rooster Booster, and Durvet's brand. You can try him in a chicken sling with his legs touching the ground.
