OH.
Ok so I'm getting new chicks this year from a lost of some of our chickens to a coon. This was a very hard time for me they were my life. So we are getting more next month and I want to no if anyone has been to Tractor Supply or Rural King lately and seen the breeds of chicks they have. I tried calling and seeing if they could tell me but they didn't answer or I'm stupid and did something wrong. Anyway it's to far to drive just to see and not buy if they don't have any breeds I want or that are good layers. So if anyone noes what breeds they have please reply. Thanks

I got silver laced Wyandotte from them in SC.
Gentle and great layers. If you are wanting to get from TSC you need to call everyday and show up when they get them in they sell very fast.
Blessings from our farm to yours!

I've checked out all 4 tractor supplys near me. They do not get to order specific breeds.

Types you will see are
Mixed bantam types (including brahma, silkie, old English, seabrights and cochins and very rarely polish, these can be all the different colors)
Large fowl I've seen are
Wyandotte
Red and black sexlinks
Rhode island red
White broilers
Barnvelder which was a special and unfortunately no longer there by the time I seen the sign.
White leghorn
Easter Eggers (mistakenly labeled as Americana most of the time)
All but the Barnvelder seem to be pretty common to what most tractor supplys near me get.

And others I'm sure I have not seen yet.
TSC orders from Privett and could get pretty much any type of chicken Privett sells.

you can look at the pdf on privet and see which days they hatch what types. They ship priority out of New Mexico and generally chicks arrive 2 days later(in the case of Florida, maybe sooner if you live closer to NM). So if there is a breed that hatches on Monday you are interested in, I would suggest visiting tractor supply on Tues-wed. If something hatches on Wed, visit TSC on thurs-fri etc.

TSC generally get only 1 or 2 types with any given shipment from what I have seen. I've been there several times as the new shipment arrives and they open it up.

TSC in different states get their birds from different hatcheries.
The staff at the stores do not always have the correct information because the ordering is often handled by the corporate offices.
Folks complain about the local staff not being knowledgeable, and sometimes that's true, but much of it is out of their hands/control.
Sometimes the breeds are mislabeled in the tubs at the store, a combination of the hatchery staff error as well as the store staff error.
Not sure about Rural King as I don't shop there.

When phoning the store, ask for the manager right off the bat.
Ask what breeds of chicks they will be getting in that week....they should have a schedule, but no guarantees there.
Even if they know what breeds and when they will arrive, aforementioned staff errors can prevail,
so you might not find what was reported once you get to the store and..... they can get bought up quick!

Your best bet for getting the breeds you want is to order directly from the hatchery and have them shipped,
or pick them up if you are close enough to hatchery. There's at a couple large hatcheries in Ohio.

Ok thanks so much I guess I will go to the closest store and look myself thanks so much for some reason we don't like ordering chicks Idk but thanks anyway

For some reason the TSCs in my area lucked into large batches of silkies lately. One had white and the second one had buff. Otherwise it's been the standard breeds (sex-links--black, red, gold; RIRs, white leghorns, cornish X). They order from Cackle Hatchery.
