Black Plastic 55 Gallon Barrel--How to Clean?

Hey Y'all,

I was able to pick up a black plastic 55 gallon barrel today. I buy corn from a local farmer and I wanted to store the corn in the barrel. I got it home and filled it up with water and 2 gallons of bleach.

I noticed on the side it said "Do Not Use for Food or Drink."

Should I return it and get a metal one or would it be ok to clean and use? I don't want to poison my animals.

I would probably return it. You can get plastic ones that are food grade. They're usually for vinegar, pickles or something similar.

Food grade is the key even with metal barrels make certain to know what was in it before, find something that was used for corn syrup or something not oil or acetone or some other chemical
