Has anyone used oregano oil and coconut oil on the tail feathers to prevent another Chicken from pecking at the ends of the feathers. No blood or skin involved. .. yet

If a chicken is picking or eating feathers, it's time to evaluate protein intake.
What are they being fed, including protein % of the feed and types of treats/supplements and what % of the total intake make up those things?

How old are the birds that are doing the pecking?

The reason is that feathers are 92% protein. When birds eat feathers, they are craving the complete essential amino acids contained therein.

I don't know but, it sounds like that would make a salad of the feathers. Your birds may need more protein in their diet if they are plucking and eating the feathers. If they aren't eating them - they are just being annoying. In either case the victims can be sporting bald areas., which will attract more attention and more picking. You can get "pinless peepers," for the pluckers. If prevents them from seeing straight ahead so their aim is off. Also it will annoy them enough - so they will probably forget about plucking.

Put "pinless peepers," in the search box for more information.
