I'm thinking that #1 chick is cockerel

And #2 chick pullet

What do y'all think?

Word has gotten out in the town where I work that I have chickens. These two were dropped off to me last week. Fingers crossed on the outcome of the sex.

Although feather growth could indicate gender, it must be specifically bred for it. With orpingtons, the best way to tell is by comb/wattle growth & color. While holding the bird, take some good face close ups from front & side. Sometime between 4-6 weeks, you'll begin to see the males' combs develop & their wattles drop, while the females stay the same.
