I am repurposing my kids old "fort"/ playhouse and I want to know can chickens climb stairs? do I have to make a ramp up into the coop or will they be able to go up the stairs to get in?? attaching photos so you can see what I am talking about ... there will be a half door top half on hinges the bottom will be a sliding pocket door for the residents. Also any opinions about the roost poles do they looked spaced right ??

Oh yes chickens can climb stairs. They basically hop up each one. At my childhood home, we had the hens off the back porch; they'd come up those stairs everyday and beg for scraps, and we weren't aloud to leave the door open because the chickens would walk right into the kitchen if you let them. I've also had a hen who was in the house for a while, and would constantly be getting out of her cage. Whenever she did she would walk out my bedroom and right down the stairs - all 22 of them.

Yep, the roosts look good, just make sure they're steady and since you're using branches be sure to file down any sharp points in the wood.
