Hi all,
I'm raising my first flock of chicks and need some help. I have one chick that was smaller than the rest and she started limping. After reading many posts, I thought it was likely she was just stepped on and separated her to recuperate. She is eating and drinking, but she isn't getting bigger like the other chicks are. They are 7 days old as of yesterday and the other chicks are now double her size.
She's been separated for about 4 days now and is still limping. She holds her leg up as high as she can towards her body, and her shoulder underneath that wing is swollen... feels hard. She is very sweet and hops around to see me, falls asleep in my hand, etc.
For a bit each day I put a chick in with her so she can have some socialization and they are all still nice to her. However, I've kept her separated since she is still limping.
Any ideas on what I can do for her or should I take her to the vet?
Thanks!
Nicole
