Crele is barring over red duckwing (aka black breasted red). Breeding a maran roo to a BR might get you something similar, but not quite the same. If you want to get crele, then look for a a partridge rock or other partridge breed. Partridge and BBR are similar enough to get crele chicks, but a maran's coloring isn't "close enough."
No. You'll get black sex links. Males single barred with a messy barring and a lot of red leakage. Females solid (non-barred) with red leakage.
As stated above, crele isn't just a barred bird with some red. True crele is black breasted red as a base color. Think Welsummer, brown Leghorn, that coloring. Then add barring on top of that.

This guy is Legbar x Welsummer then crossed Cockerel x a Partridge LF Cochin.
Would love to get a Creole Marans Project going what Marans color would work best and faster to get project going.
