What Killed Our Chicken? Help Rule out Bad Chicken **Pictures**

Had a possum go through my original chain link run. He wasn't after my chickens that night, instead crawled into the tube of my gravity fed feeder. Got trapped in it and died. Didn't know till the smell kicked up several days later. He appeared much larger than I thought could get through chain link, but there was no other way. Even the top of the run was covered in chain link.
 
Thought of possum too because of the back end buffet.

Could be something got in a hole that hasn't been discovered yet.

Chain link panels have those curved corners that leave gaps and are often neglected to be meshed over for security.
 
ACTUALLY, ^ y'all are right on the money about the possum! Its been so busy the last few days but just signed on to update this thread that FYI it was a possum!

The evening I found her, my young kids and I were putting chickens up at dusk and my catahoula-bulldog *handled* the situation. I'm super proud of her because normally she's a goober and never really tries to catch anything, but her kiddos being right, she didn't mess around and took out a HUGE possum returning to the coup.

My husband had the jolly task of cleanup and while checking the coup found a loose part of chicken wire under a section of tarp, with possum hair stuck in the wire.

So, mystery solved.
