So 9 out of 11 hatched!! I will post pics when I can get my phone from my son lol. One that didn't hatch looked like it quit around day 16-18 the other pipped right behind it's air sac and I didn't know and it didn't make it. Really sad but I am happy 9 made it. I will be starting my second batch on Saturday!! I am hoping to collect quite a few easter egger eggs this time since they are finally laying again. Hoping to have around 5 or 6 to put in this time. We only had one of 3 of the easter egger eggs hatch so that was kinda sad. All 8 brown eggs I put in hatched the only ones that didn't were easter eggers. I think I will be doing 18 to 20 this time. 2 of these beautiful babies are going to a friend who gave me the easter eggers in 2 weeks the other 7 will go to their home this weekend coming up with another friend. She will also be getting ALL of my next 2 batches so I am excited cause I get to do this at least 2 more times before I need to find more people for babies. I have another friend who in about 3 months should be ready for me to hatch her some out!! I am loving this. I am kinda looking in to maybe starting a business with this cause I really enjoy my chickens and hatching!!

Congrats!! That's an awesome first hatch!!

I've got a set due Friday, and will probably set more right after they hatch, or maybe even set some this evening (in my 2nd incubator). Girls are finally putting out some eggs! Yippee!

Thank you!!!! It really is!! I would already have batch 2 in if it wasn't for my easter eggers just started laying again and I really want a few eggs from them. I am hoping to have 5 or 6 to put in this time. I am in love with it! It's so amazing to get to watch! My kiddos have enjoyed it too. Plus they have learned a lot doing it. They even wanted to see the baby we eggtopsied. Even though they are only 5 and 10 we showed them and they both seem to really understand. They are begging me to start another batch. I told them this weekend since we are trying to get more easter egger eggs. Plus my husband wants me to do it on a Saturday or Sunday so he can get to be home when they hatch lol!

Quote: Well, it is controllable.
What slows me down is not having places to put all the chicks.
Tho I must admit I'm very excited to have been asked to do a hatch for someone else here shortly.

It's great your whole family is on on it and especially that the kids are witnessing the 'not so fun part'...Kudos to you.
Definitely try to start on Friday night for weekend hatch so the weekday worker man can be able to see a hatch.

x2! Its awesome for the kids to be involved.

And you are right, it is somewhat controllable. I held out pretty well over the winter, because I just don't have space for them either, and not ready to add on to my pens yet. But it is amazingly fun!

Thank you both!! As long as I have a place for the babies I see no reason to control lol!! I will be sad when I have to take a break. I think it is good for the kids to learn nature isn't always pretty. I really think it prepares them better for life to know it's not all sunshine and roses. They got to be there every time we candled and when they were home they got to watch the hatching. Most hatched while they were at school on Friday though. I started the last batch on a Friday afternoon and they all hatched Friday morning but like 3. So far I have 3 good easter egger eggs I will be adding and hoping to get a few more.
