She acts lame. Just mopes around and won't run around with the flock very long. Only gets up when I get her up. She prefers to stay in the coop. Will occasionally eat but not a lot. No physical signs of injury apparent. Not egg bound. The rest of the flock act well but peck at her as she cowers among them when I place her with them. Here she isolates herself in an area under some trees while the rest of the group are out foraging.

! Great to have you aboard! If you think she is sick or injured, a great place to post is in the link below. Be as detailed as possible with all symptoms. Without much to go on it does sound like broodiness is at least a possibility. Hope it's that and not something medical. Best of luck - keep us updated. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

Hello!

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. X2! On redsoxs's advice. Good luck with your girl. :fl Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Welcome!

My first thought was also broody and if not, definitely try posting on the Emergencies & Diseases thread to which redsoxs has given you a link.

Good luck to you and your gal!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Do you know if she is sitting on any eggs, she may be trying to hatch them. Outside she is a sitting duck for predators. If the others in the flock don't kill her, something else will.
