Will a hen mount another hen? And I am afraid you ladies are right. Red do you want another rooster to replace the one that was lost?

Oh then I take pics of my polish "girl". Oops maybe not. The redness showing up in these pics caught me off guard. They do not seem that red in person. Sasha if you see this post let me know how it compares to your babies from this hatch ok? Dang it! This is going to turn out to be a really nice one, from an A+ breeder, now I am worried.

Oooh, Lisa. I'm nervous for you! I just went and looked at my siblings to this Polish baby. Both have teensy tiny little wattles, and the one I think is a girl (the black one) has a pinch of pink to them, the cuckoo is still completely fleshy colored. What. The. Heck. These guys are keeping me guessing! In the daylight tomorrow I'll take a look at the Cuckoo Polish girl that is about a month older than these guys, and let you know what her wattles look like.

SUNDANCE! Those eggs are awesome. Love 'em! You will have an avatar like Illia. I am trying really really hard to have the fun colors but i can see this is going to take awhile. haha :) The pink egg is so nice, how did you manage that?! I thought I might get a yellow but I guess not, the EE is a boy. I am positive. :(

I would trade the bird AND the neighbor/friend. :lol: If that is a boy and that old, they would have to know.....wouldn't it crow? If it were older I could see it being a girl maybe, there are not lots of spiky saddle feathers, but if it is young good sakes a face like that would have to be male......and you would think crowing....
 
I sold my Blue A. tonight. I just posted it on ksl this afternoon. :) Will have to find out if she goes to BYC at all. She's in Lindon. Coming in the morning.
Still have my babies, very pretty babies. :)

I candled my Polish, the 8 are going strong. I am excited.

Lisa, don't the polish go by the hairdo's too to determine the sex? From what I've read, that hairdo looks boyish. Handsome!

Red, I agree, the EE had some trademark shoulders starting. Much deeper than the usual orange. (sigh)
Sundance you make me laugh how hard you want to get a sizzle in my flock lol! I really really think those are cute but the only ornamentals I really will keep is the Polish. And the showgirl is my exception---because they are crossed with the turkens there is a lot less broodiness going on and a bit better laying from what I have read. I love the way the silkies look but had a bad experience with a crazy broody and am happy to have the break from that

Unless something happens to the ones I have anyway (knocking on wood!) I really have more out there than I should. Phoenix can attest to that, he came to pick up Blujems Marans today and he was like "whoa"! Trying not to get the hammer out again lol.. I still will need to pick and choose and narrow it down just a few before winter.

I just candled I have 10 duncle Mille Fleur and 5 from Anne that are viable
 
Woo hoo hatching all around right now! It is fun to hear about it, keep it coming. Keeps me from withdrawals!

CYnthia, there is an article about the chick crest sexing, says it is 90 percent something accurate....but so far on the ones I have had --my very first two it worked on and NoNE of the others. So I give up on the crest thing totally. Really when they are older it is obvious but my babes with girl crests are boys and vice versa. Argh! This one looks just like my blue girl did....it grows longer and longer then turns into a giant ball on the girls, gets stringy and umbrella like on the boys, Seems like waiting for the wattles to go pink is more of an accurate indicator when they ar e little.. But they do start about 4-5 weeks to get a teensy pink, but red is bad.

So I love all the offers coming my way from you Sundance, you are so sweet :) You are a naughty chicken friend for an admitted chickaholic. I need to run the other way when i see you coming ;) I really need to deal with my current flock and have sworn not to take on any more. It would happen, I would get a girl, then need another girl when this polish is a boy.. it will never end. This little polish, if it is a girl, will have to just get along haha. She/he is going to be TINY, lots smaller than the bantam polish from Noseychickens. (Frizzled Zorro/masked villian that Sasha had for a bit) . It is a sweet little thing, whatever gender. I will keep hoping a bit longer.
