Glad you bumped ....

I have been hunting for Silkies since Easter ...
gave up started looking again in June.... thought I had
one black coming but nope..... so back to looking again.

Just in case I thought I'd ask if anyone near Toronto might have any to sell.

No Roosters, and hoping for other than white because we have one white one who needs a buddy
and my little girl thinks her white one is very extraordinary. (Don't we all?)

I never thought I'd own a silkie either - but golly they are so much fun!
I love the strut , the way she scratches the ground, and puts grass on her back
when she's in the nesting mood. She is a fiesty little thing ! Full of PERSONALITY!!

She'd been making practice nests for the last week or so, but I didn't think it'd be so soon!

Polishprincess How old is your girl?
My babies are about 7 months and nothing yet. I have read anything from 6 mths to a year. I still check every morning and listen on the monitor for the ever so sweet egg song. I had one making starter nest last week, but I sold her because she was white and I am not keeping white any longer. I did not need white eggs! Oh well I will keep checking but in the meantime can you come have the talk with my girls?
Congrats on the egg maybe the others will catch on soon.

Honestly, I've heard such bad things about the laying habits of Silkies, I've stopped waiting and counting altogether. I can admit that I didn't think she would manage to lay one before spring. It's getting really cold over here. Hadn't gotten a single squat out of her and Roo-roo is showing nada interest.

I think the key is not waiting, or even not thinking about it! Then they sneak up on ya.

Better threaten to turn those girlies into feather-dusters if they don't shape up! Sending laying vibes your way!

I go out every morning and every evening (not to mention sitting in the coop with them throughout the day) and sit and watch them play, and spoil them. I threaten to take away the grapes and watermelon but it does me no good. They are like 2 years old I imagine (since I do not have human kids) they just don't listen and I give and give and give and they take and take and take and we get up the next morning and do it all over again. I ordered some eggs here on BYC so I will teach them a leason when they have to raise the next bunch of babies. haha Either way I still get more fuzzy butts, so that is still a win right. Glad you got your egg though least you paid less than me. haha
They are so rotten yet I love them so much.

In Woodbury, TN it is dead between Chatt or Nash. one hour either way. I should have very pretty babies next spring with the addition of the very nice Showgirl due to ship in October.

Guess my Christmas is just coming early. Oh and the incubator with hatching eggs which should hatch around Thanksgiving if all goes well. Lots going on around here. Nice to have other silkie lovers so close.

We used too go through woodbury every year. But since hubby's brother died, we haven't been in years. You are not too far from Smithville either are you? We went too the Fiddlers Jamboree there for several years in a row. Then it got too be too hot for us too sit out there. There is gonna be the best Elvis impersonators I have ever seen in Cleveland Tn next month. If you liked Elvis it would be a good show too go see. I am hoping too get some more white silkies before long. I love the white ones. Actually I like most all silkies but the white ones are my favorite.
