The little light blue one already has a sort of sweetness of expression- this is going to be SO fun.

Joy here is my blue boy out Winston that i like. Not the greatest color in this photo. It was late evening today and it was so hot and humid I just couldnt' get a decent photo. All the birds just wanted to get down on the dirt to cool off and hold their wings out. Maybe tomrrow will be better.

Thanks Julie, but I'm pretty naive to the whole american vs english. I just know that I LOVE BIG BUTTS and yours and others (chickens that is) are the biggest!

So Oprah is from Jody's eggs, so I guess she's american.

I know it's in this thread somewhere but someone give me a few things to look for American VS English?

Does Oprah have any English in her?

Cheryl you would have to ask the Hinkles the lines she is from. She is pretty though'

There are buff in English and American type. I don't know anyone who has English type ones here in the USA but that doesn't mean there isn't some here. I just don't know of any.

Cheryl i have some really pretty black pullets i will try and get a pic of tomorrow if the weather is cooler It is hard when they are hot and keep their wings low to keep cool.

Chicks are growing out well Julie. I think that cockerel that you like from Winston looks pretty leggy? It's hard to tell in pictures sometimes. He looks nice and broad though. I sure hope he turns out to be a keeper for you.

Your Oprah is very pretty Cheryl. She looks to have some loose feathering, but the tail doesn't look "English" to me. If you know who you got her from, maybe you can ask them where her lines are from? I'd like to know too !! To my knowledge, there isn't much English blood here in the US for BBS orps, so I always have my eyes open for more English blood. Of course, Julie has so many grandchicks out there, she could be from Julie's lines somewhere. If you find out, please let us know.

Beth - Got another pip this morning !!! Will keep you posted. Your two little chicks are doing great so far !!

Cheryl just order the Book The Orpington Fowl and it has color photos and a chart and lots of vaulable info that would take hours to write on here. . Written by Will Burdett and Joseph Batty who are considered experts on Orpingtons in the UK. You can find it on Abebooks or Amazon. It is the only book I know written specifically about Orpingtons with pictures in it. Hope that helps.

Joy-thanks for the update!

Hope the little pipper keeps going!

I love both looks, but I must admit, the "flounces" or "Petticoat" look on the English Orps is fanstastic.
