Hey! Anyone here a cross-country runner? Or has anyone ever ran in cross country in the past? Here is where you can share your experience(s), advice, tips, etc. and see who else on BYC likes to run in cross country, one of the hardest sports ever!
I run in cross country and track and it's so fun!

Currently I ran about 16+ miles last week, not including a bunch of 8-mile bike rides almost everyday.

So far I have ran 7.5 miles this week, and I have a 3-mile meet this Saturday!

Can't wait! But I'm nervous because I've never ran in a 3-mile meet before. I'm used to the short 1.5-mile meets that my school used to have.

So now I've been trying to get better and keep up with some of my team members, most of which are older and more experienced than me.

But I've been improving a lot and I can't wait for all the upcoming meets!

So, does anyone else ever run in cross country? What are your usual times per mile? I think I run about 6-7 minutes per mile, around race pace, but I'm not sure though.

Also, feel free to share any advice/tips with any current runners, for those of you who have more experience!

Thanks!

Nice! I'm terrible at hurdles...I can get over them, but not very fast!

But when I was little I used to jump over a bunch of things to pretend I was a horse in a show jumping competition.

I usually run the 100meter and 200meter dash in track.

I run trails at Mission Trails Regional Park here in San Diego. A running club called Dirt Devls (San Diego Running Institute) hold races, I normally do the 20K but they also have 5 and 10K races.
I keep a 10 min mile (not up hill though)...Not trail blazing but not too shabby for a slightly overweight 39yr old dude. The races are called "SDRI Trails of Torment" great fun.
KEEP ON RUNNING!

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd try to revive it.

I'm fairly new to cross country running, I started last September, if I remember correctly. And I had my first cross country meet in October. I went from barely being able to run 3/4 miles to running 2 1/2 miles in a month. (Not to bad if I do say so myself. ) It was both fun and nerve racking for me. I'm sad to say that for my first meet I came in last, because I suddenly got a side cramp mid-way though it. :barnie But I do enjoy running and plan to take it up again in the spring. (It's to hard to do it up here in the winter.) So are there anymore cross country runners here on BYC?
