I just went back and and looked at them.
There looks to be some good birds in the bunch (from what I can see) I only saw on pullet/hen that was light in under-color.
How old are they, Where did you get them, And do you know what line they are?

well there young pullets just started laying and I got them from a local man who has raised RiR's all his life. as far as strain is conserned I guess it would be his strain. These are from his stock he is just an old farmer who doesnt know much about anything other then eating eggs and raising chickens. they have had RiRs for about 35 years and across the road from him is alot more of these birds. He doesnt sell to the public as I said these were just his original stock from his younger days. I guess they have about 200 birds on the farm across the road from his house.

I like the looks of them , much better then the ones I had from Ideal for sure.

I am getting some from Duane Urch this spring, and will see how they grow out, gotta get some good ones else my grandmother will thump me in my dreams.

Chris what are your pens made of?

Jake,
Them are old calf hutches I got some cheap at a livestock action. There around 4½' tall 4' wide and 6' long they work nice and are easy to move around.

I like the top male the best ( at least by the picture). The second male seems to have a short back and the third one slope up too much.

I had a friend in Calif. who used them for his gamebird breeding groups. Worked real well.

On the roos I place them in order, 1,2, and 3. #3 has a number of shortcomings, 2 is better balanced and I like his back nd neck but 1 has the most to offer of the 3. Of course he is also the most mature of the three, so #2 would be my pick to watch.

As of when the pictures of the young roosters were taken Ill give you the placement..
I wish I had about 50 more breeders to keep up with the orders I have for this line. Other than me there are 4 other true breeders 3 of which are APA poultry judges that have this line of mine and all of them has had good out come with them at the shows. The key to showing this line is that they have to be at least a year and a half old or better yet two years old. It takes a wile for them them to fully fill out and mature. The 2 young roosters are less than a year old in the pictures I posted the father is a 3 year old (in the picture) and took reserve ch. in 6 shows with no less than 150 birds in each show.
