I have both chickens and a husky. I also have a German shepherd. I agree with the comments that a husky does not make a good first time dog. They have tons of energy. They are very smart but if you don't keep them busy, they will find trouble. They are predators by nature and are NOT good with chickens. If we are with the husky he will leave them alone, but I would never trust him alone with them. He would kill them in a heartbeat. Our shepherd, however, is great with them and will even help us herd them when they try to wonder off. I would really reconsider your choice. If you get a husky, you must be very strict and show you are the alfa. Make sure your chickens are secure. Remember, huskiness not only jump over a fence, they will try to dig under the fence.
