Well, we are well under way to having a chicken coop! We are building a Garden Coop and we are staining the wood and painting the trim and rafters.
We are located in Missouri in St. Louis City....so these will be "urban chickens"
. We will be adding a polycarbonate roof in a smoke grey to the top of these green beams. This is supposed to block out 70% of the suns rays. The coop is under a Sycamore so it really won't get much direct sun anyway.
I think we will be adding an outside nesting box since we have 8 chickens....to give them more space. How many do we need for that? Is two not enough?
I also think we'll be going with sand for the run and composing the poo.
