Cream Legbars

A friend of mine just had a broody hatch out "CreamSteen" chicks. I think of the remainders there are three whites and two chamois with white crests. When they were first hatched, I thought there would only be two females. CL rooster over RIW hen -- but the hen is a hatchery bird, although my friend was told she was RI white, and she looks like in body type etc...lays brown egg, she doesn't have a rose comb. RIW is rose combed bird right?

They are pretty chicks, I agree.
they call them Production RIW, the RIW people are real snooty towards them. The Heritage RIW have the rose comb. The single comb RIW i have make Gold sex links. i hatched 8 males this year and 4 females. True to gold sex link. The people that argue they are not RIW with a straight comb say they are just another white bird mix and wont make the sex links. They are wrong. Im fine with the production/heritage difference. They are better for the CL Cross anyway.

Okay-- but then how do you address your chickens when you talk to them?? You do talk to them right?

here babies. come on babies. hey girl. hey boy.

Hey Steen, I waved out the window this afternoon when I saw the Tijeras sign as we headed up the turquoise trail. I don't know where you live, but I waved anyways! Lol

I cal mine 'hey chick chick chick... But they all have names.

My daughter frequently names mine. We went through a "Twilight" period. Now they are all getting Anime names. Some of them get other names from me based on personality traits. My best looking roo from Lorinda is named Daidara, who is a warrior character. He is showing some aggressive signs darn it!

LOL - I just clap my hands and all the chickens in the pens and fields come running/flying. It is a great show for guests. I always treat them with some scratch for the performance.

I say "chick, Chick" and they all come running...I have a few that have names, Lily the old Leghorn, Betty- Blue the Blue Marans and the tow ducks, Mr. Magoo and Mama-duck. But when I call, "chick, chick" they all come running.

How old are they?  Is it possible the one isn't laying yet or it molting?  I get an average of 5 eggs/week/hen for most of the year.  That's almost an egg per day.

They are laying age and were both laying when i got them from a lady about a month ago i started getting eggs a couple of weeks ago im positive ive never seen the non crested one (one crested one non crested greenfire stock) on the nest basket i have a nest box but they wont use it they use a basket i put bricks around to hold it down into place.. Should i try moving the nest box no one uses? Could the other one be sick?

No one is molting we had some pretty hot days when i first got them but they have pans of water they would stand in and i keep fans in the coop(they have half of my garage and a 20x20 run its also been much cooler the last few weeks..
