After trying almost everything to get my chickens in better health, I finally found a feed store that carries a vitamin/electrolyte supplement. It is the Durvet brand, and it states it is a water soluble premix of vitamins and electrolytes for poultry, swine, ruminants and horses.

It somes in an 8oz package and it is a powder. For whatever reason, I am having a hard time figuring out the measurement conversion, so I'm hoping that someone can tell me how much they use?

The package says to dissolve one package in 110 gallons. Because it needs to be mixed fresh each day, I figure that I would fill the waterer with the powder and just a half gallon of water daily. But the math is screwing me up. So, if I would mix the whole package (8 oz's) into 110 gallons, how much should I mix with just a half gallon?

I know its' silly that I can't seem to figure this out, but my brain has been stretched a bit thin lately with the kids home all day for summer!!!

If you have the 4 oz. packet of Durvet brand Vitamins and Electrolytes then you would mix 1/2 teaspoon into 1 gallon of water.

If you have the 8 oz. packet of Durvet brandVitamins and Electrolytes then you would mix 3/4 teaspoon into 1 gallon of water.

That math took me forever the first time! I should have just asked here.

Wait until you have to measure antibiotics. Similar formula. But, you'll probably just aske here like a smart person. Or do a search even to see if it was asked before. WHich I'm sure it has.

You should see the piece of paper with math equations scrawled all over it from this morning. I ended up just guessing, but I got the measurement pretty close. I have no idea how Chris09 derived the answer, but I sure am happy that I could get the info on here!!

I looked it up on the net. There was a post on another form that had a email from Durvet in it on how to mix there Durvet brand Vitamins and Electrolytes.

If you try to do the math on it you will come up with a little different figure.
8 oz. = 48 tsp
48 ÷ 110 = .43 tsp (not quite a ½ tsp. per gallon)

I add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to each gallon of water for my hens. Would the cider effect the electrolytes and vitamins?
