Olandsk Dwarf Chickens

That is good! What colors are chicks? Are you setting more eggs? I just got home from PA. seeing family. While I was their I met up with lady I got my eggs off of and got a trio! I will post photos soon! I am really excited to have them.

Congratulations on the trio!

Yes, I'll be setting a few more eggs, hopefully today. Here is a poor photo of the two chicks, they really were uncooperative.

Hatch status - 3 out so far plus 9 more that have pipped. Another dozen still sleeping. These are in the bator - I also have eggs under 3 broodies and am very interested in comparing hatch rates between incubator and broodies. The broody eggs have only been cooking for about a week now, so I won't have results to compare for a few more weeks.

Fertility has been amazing - just need to crack the code on getting the little guys out of their shells! Maybe positive reinforcement - "you are good enough, you are smart enough, and gosh darn it people like you". Just need to get that on a tape that plays over and over during lockdown. The little dwarfs will hatch if only to turn the darn tape recorder off!

I have one - here she is! The other two broodies are bantam cochins aka self-powered incubators.

4 more olandsk emerged by the time I got up this morning - 1 more is working on her zipper, and the pips are still at it. C'mon sleepers!

How cute, I hope one of mine goes broody someday. Thanks for sharing the picture.

awww, thanks. She is a sweetie.

Hatch update - 13 hatched. I'll give the sleepers until tonight to see if any pip, then conduct the science experiment to see what happened with those that didn't hatch.

This batch was 100% chipmunks - none of the white with light brown splotches on the head that I had in the last hatch.

I'll post pics of the babies and their older siblings when I can - hopefully this weekend.

The 3 pullets that are not broody are still laying well, and I think I have reached my hatching saturation point for the year (or at least until Autumn), so I do have eggs available if anyone is interested - PM me and we can discuss.

Congratulations on the 13. Look forward to the pictures. I put 7 more in the incubator, I'm on day 3.
