Question...shrimp shells

These were all cooked. They peel so much better when they are cooked anyways. It just seemed a shame to toss them in a compost pile if the chicks could eat them.
 
Do you have to cook the shells or can you give it to them raw?
Also, my husband has a seafood allergy. Will feeding my chickens the shells affect the eggs?
