selling ducks?

I wish I had the courage AND the experience AND the skill to kill our male ducks and eat them. I've only been a farm/country gal for 9 years now and I just can't seem to kill and eat our ducks ... or geese ... or chickens! :(

Its fine ive done this for a good while and i will never be able to do that, just killing something that you raised from a baby to an adult to kill it seems cruel to me. I mean you bonded with this animal how could you do that.

I have a hard time selling mine as well. I actually make enough money selling hatching eggs to cover the cost of feed and a little extra.

I agree with the poster who said to try and sell the males with girls attached. The only way I was able to get rid of any boys this year was to sell them with two girls. I marketed them as a started trio for someone who might want to get into ducks but maybe not raise them from babies since it does take a while for them to get full grown. I was able to sell two sets that way but any other boys that I tried marketing on their own didn't sell and will end up in my freezer this spring. I would have put them there this fall but I ran out of time and winter weather came earlier than we expected so they got a reprieve until next spring.
