I thought it was steep too and admit begrudging it a bit but I was desperate and they could get me in as an emergency. By the time I got in it was after hours. They shut at 12, I left after 1 and there was still people with emergencies waiting.
I paid just under $200 from memory for consult, emergency/after hours, euthanasia and necropsy. I expected to pay more. I also got a number of phone calls after hours to discuss options, results and treatment.
I also looked at the cost as being for my whole flock as my roo was representative of them all.
I felt confident the vet knew what she was talking about. Something I don't experience talking poultry normally. It was nice to speak with someone who knows more than me. She was practical yet caring. I would recommend them to anyone.
Sadly it costs a lot to keep animals. They didn't miss you with those charges.
