Hatching
I have a mixed flock. 3 of my chickens are golden comets. They lay eggs everyday. They are very sweet and friendly to all animals. In my flock I have golden comets, barred rocks, bantam Cochins, bantam Brahmas, and one welsummer. They do peck at the bantams occasionally but nothing to cause damage. They are good free rangers, cold and heat hardy, good foragers, and very easy to hold. I got mine from craigslist mostly, but some also came from some local bird swaps. If you don't know what a bird swap is it's a gathering of people where they will sell or trade goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, quail, pheasants, and sometimes peacocks. The prices are usually good. Alot of the people are just trying to get rid of the chickens so they are relatively cheap. I was able to get one cohcin bantam, two bantam buff brahmas, 2 golden comets, and a rabbit for $55.
All in all these are very good birds. Not uncommon, Very sweet. Very good egg layers. Very hardy. My favorite chicken next to the Australorp.
They don't go broody alot which is good if you want them for egg laying, but for hatching it's pretty hard at least in my
