How will they know it's This Hatch doing it?  I ordered the large Brinsea cabinet incubator for this hatch but never mentioned why or that I was from BYC...

We are getting down to "short time" now!!  Today at noon, Muscovy eggs will be set.   weeks from today will be St. Patrick's Day and we will be setting chicken eggs  and in five short weeks, we'll be hatching!   smiley

Don't forget to check out the revamped Post # 1 to see what contests are open, who's participating, where to find the participant map and other stuff!!

We have surpassed the number of participants from last year.......let's see how many more we can get in the next two weeks!

Yesterday, the temps didn't make it over 30 until late in the day, so all that snow is still here. I see fog this morning, so hopefully that means it's over 32 already and the snow is melting!!!  Maybe it will rain today wash away some of the snow! I do love the snow but . . .

I have breeding pens to build, or rather DH is home for the weekend and HE has breeding pens to build!

Gooooooooood morning, everyone!

It's going to be a bright, sunny day here and I'm hoping the girls start some consistent production. I thought they were up and running but then we had a cold spell, then a warm spell, then a cold spell, then a storm, then cold, then warm, then rain and snow (didn't stick) then warm....

They're indignant now.

I'm delighted we have so many views and so many joiners, but you lurkers need to speak up and join our group! We love to hear from you and get to know you- it's always fun to hear where folks are from, what they are attempting to hatch, what kind of experience they have or don't have...and we always reach out and help those who have questions or trouble! Join us!

I have a friend who is making an incubator just to join and I'm going over there to bodily force her to get on here and voice her commitment- silly girl hasn't spoken up yet.

Kathy, I'm just shy of my cough after forever with it, and now I'm sneezing. roll.png Do take good care of yourself, and take L-Lysine daily to avoid viral infections until you're good and well. It's important to consider histoplasmosis whenever a prolonged cough develops in a chicken-owner, too. I just had to say it. Sorry. I'm sure that's not it, but I had to say it.

I put a big pot of water on the stove and keep it at a really low flame with lots of cinnamon and rosemary. It just sits and evaporates for days, makes the house smell great, and acts as an antimicrobial while raising the humidity for better mucus-membrane health. There was a story a few years back about how Grandma used to do this all winter, and they found evidence that it's scientifically sound. Maybe that will help your cough?

A hawk got my Rapa Nui baby, who was really a pullet just approaching point-of-lay. She had gotten out of the covered run and was in my backyard proper. Her very first egg was exposed in her poor remains and I took it and put it in my incubator. Is that just morbid? These are such very rare birds, and now I'm back to her parents, a mere pair. hit.gif

This will be a much better day! I demand it!!

Good morning everyone!  I'm up early to get a few grandson-free moments, he's 4 so days with him are busy, busy, busy.  I have a feeble entry for the egg art contest that relies more on props than talent, lol.  I had an itty bitty fart egg that I'd saved and thought it might go well in a martini.
