Heard of a Bovan Brown?

I did find a hatchery...

now my question is... can you feed them from the farm with protein concentrate supplement or given their breeding, do they have to be fed from the feed store?
It appears to me that these "hybrid, well researched" breeds are made the be fed a specific diet (the cheap ones bought by high production egg companies) and not the homegrown chicken diet we grow.

Bovans Rhode island cross. They have been great. They have layed double yolks. They have a deep yellow yolk. They love foraging. There eggs taste great. 6 girls= 6 eggs a day. My friends also enjoy their taste. Their diet consists off non gmo crumble with scratch and oyster shells. I also feed them kale, cabbage broccoli, cucumbers, different organic seeds and grains and home grown fodder. They eat a lot of different foods. They love it all.

I have 6 BOVAN girls. They where able to handle -30 degrees celius temperature this winter. They have continually layed eggs. We fine them very curious and friendly. Now that spring has arrived they love getting out and foraging for the little bugs, worms and fresh weeds and grasses.

Hello i had 20 of Bovan Browns 2 died unknown reason . the first 10 froze up someone said because i have a rooster with them they stop laying . well so i bought 10 more they layed only for 2 days and no longer laying . did you have any trouble with yours ?

I have 4 of these in my mixed flock of 66 birds. I am getting 10 more in the next week. I avg an egg a day from these four, and they are my friendliest birds. They at times can chase other hens out of the eating area. And once someone steps out the backdoor they take off in a sprint to greet you. They are really my favorites, and as I sit in the evening watchimg everyone go in to roost, 2 of them come and roost on my knees, almost nightly. They are my kids favorites as well. With what little knowledge I have, I would say if you get a chance to get some, do it! You will not be disappointed. And tyoically I see them around here for $5 a bird, this last group of ten I ordered are 8 months old and I got them for $3.50 a bird.
Did you have trouble with freeze up and stop laying because mixed with other flock of dif breed ?
