Just make sure you have a big, secured and covered run and a coop to lock them up in at night. I have a 20' x 20' run for 3 chickens (I might eventually get 2 or 3 more), plenty of running around room so I don't have to free range them. I've heard foxes in my woods and across the road in my neighbor's cow pasture for a couple of weeks now and so far, so good, they haven't messed with my chickens. I do plan on stringing up some electric wiring soon though.
