A few years ago I bought a lower receiver, hoping to someday build a rifle.

I gathered a few more parts (used/cheap), but never got any further.

Since I didn't hunt muzzleloader season last year, and starting this year we can use handguns for ML season, I sold my ML to get the parts to finish the lower.

I decided to make a pistol instead of a rifle, so I bought the complete lower parts kit from PSA. I put a couple parts on, just to see how it'll look.

I'd never built one, or even had my Bushmaster taken apart, so I was hesitant to start with all those little parts. Then I found a DIY thread on AR15.com and started working on it.

I printed the parts list, and put mine on it so I wouldn't mess up.

I didn't do step-by-step pics, because it took all my attention to get it done. After lots of frustration, including the pivot pin detent getting launched around the room a couple times, I finally finished it.

I also sold my 22-250, to use that money to build an upper. I have a 7.5" barrel ordered, and I'm looking for the other parts now.

Good job! It looks great!

No, I still need to build the upper. It's half done, but since the upper and lower are separate units I feel good about getting that half done. :)

Some of those parts look familiar, like those of the M-16 we used in Viet Nam. It was an absolute piece of junk. I hope you have better luck with it than we did.

Yep, all of those parts are interchangeable with the M16, but they've come a long way since they were first introduced. Thanks for your service.

My barrel arrived today, getting me one step closer;

Here's me shooting my Bushmaster, which would be more familiar looking to you;

And shooting my friends M16, that got me wanting to build this pistol;

NICE! If the dang things weren't so expensive, I'd LOVE to get myself an AR-15 (after an AK-47, of course.

). Shot a friend's once - that thing was so much fun!

Post pics of when it's finished! Bet it'll be fun to shoot.
