Hi all
I am very excited at the moment. I have incubated 7 Khaki Campbell eggs and yesterday they were rolling around and i could hear them. This morning one egg has a small hole in it. 5 out of the 7 have started to hatch. I can't wait. This is the first time i have incubated, last time i let my call duck sit on her own eggs, only 3 out of 14 hatched and 2 of those died. The other has grown beautifully.

Hope these survive. Wish me luck.

Thank you. First duckling is here at 9.35pm

I am a little confused as to how long to leave it in the incubator i have read many different times. Does anyone have any ideas as i am afraid to leave it in there but have read they must stay there till dry. Some i have read have said 12 hrs others up to 48 hrs. I would appreciate any help and information. Do not want to affect the others still hatching.

Thanks - So excited

They can live off of just the yolk for up to 48 hours. You shouldn't open the incubator while the others are hatching, because it will release the humidity and increase the chance of them being shrink wrapped. Once everyone has hatched and the last one is mostly dry, then go ahead and take them out. I just hatched my first duckling tonight too! The only survivor out of 16 shipped eggs. Another went into lockdown with her but died when it tried to pip the wrong end :( Good luck with your little ones!

Hi,
5 out of 7 ducklings hatched, now almost a week old. There was one that took nearly 3 days and was really weak so we took a chance and helped it,, VERY CAREFULLY. I am glad to say although a little behind the others it is doing very well. All 5 are cheeky little devils but so cute. They have a little swim 2 or 3 times a day and are looking good.

I am a very pleased mum.

Sadly last night we lost the last duckling that hatched. The other 4 are very happy and healthy looking. The one we lost was obviously behind the others and a lot smaller. We could not get it to eat or drink and we tried so hard. It was making so much noise in the end to get back to the others and went in their little house and they all snuggled together. At least it was not alone. The others were very noisy when we saw he had died and took him away. I thought they may pick on him but they didn't just all snuggled up.

I suppose that is nature but very sad none the less.
