Pekin Duck Club!

My hatch is complete. 4 babies ! All have some Pekin blood in them . I am having issues with the last one to hatch. I hobbled his legs since they keep sticking stright out behind him. We'll se how it goes.

(From left to right) No name yet, my 11yo DD is still deciding, No name yet, I will decide today ( this is the little one with the leg issues), Ducky Mo Mo - this one is my 6yo DS's duckling, and Elmo - who now belongs to my 4yo DD.

They are so sweet! Congrats!!!! I have to laugh because my youngest son calls Soleil Ducky Mo Mo hah! What a fun name :) and of course Elmo is a classic kids pick! QOL!

are perkins good in the winter and can you train them to be like a dog go by the door if they need to go to the bathroom???

They are very cold-hardy. My ducks preferred to sleep out in the cold the majority of the winter and would only go in their house if it was raining or snowing. When I went out in the mornings, their backs would all be frosted over - silly ducks.

As for house ducks, Metzer Farms sells a great book about having a duck or goose in the house.

My Pekins are growing!

at a day old...

today at 3 weeks old in the same cage. I of course don't keep them in there anymore.

Mine are 3 weeks old also. I will need to move them outside during the day as soon as spring starts! They have gotten BIG!
