Glad you had the whip with you. I feel for the stud colts, they dont have a brain as long as they have balls. Amazing how well they behave once they are cut though. I would help my uncle do farm calls and cut colts. Nasty rotten boys before and a few days after on recheck visits they were so easy to handle every time. I have only ever owned mares and geldings, but worked around studs and learned a healthy respect for their power and tempers.
