I built a brooder and used digital thermostat with temp probe from incubator warehouse, also used their 110 volt heater element along with their axial fan for air movement through the heating element. Works awesome and I added the soft white 60 watt bulb for light. Wanted to get away from the heat lamp situation. when I had heat lamps I could never keep temps accurate, now No problem. Temp is perfect at 94.9 degrees. Made this unit with and adjustable right side plywood panel, so I can expand this to 6 feet on width inside if needed.
my hatch the day before Easter gave me (80) new Little chicks to have in this.

I love this idea and since my granddaughter is almost 3 and sleeps in a regular bed I may just use her playpen for next years chicks :D


This is my brooder - a 250 ga water trough. It is heavy and is easy to clean, plus when I'm done I can put it back out to water cows.
I use an old chain link gate to cover the top when they get big enough to fly out. :)
