Rooster w/ Hens: Advantages/Disadvantages?

I didn't plan on having a roo, but now that I do, I am loving it. He is extremely protective of the girls. That can have its advantages and disadvantages when you need to handle the hens. My roo is great overall, and I'm glad I have him. He alerts me to problems even!
