We were told these were Americanas....but green legs?

Thank you! I was reading that same thread when you replied here. I am having a hard time with those photos telling if these are pullets or roo's. We are new to this, and I think we assumed or were told they were all female at the feed store, but now I am starting to question myself. I think my husband really wanted EE's anyways originally, so if they are EE that's great! haha.

those are definitely Easter eggers from what i know Americanas have no tails and don't have green legs

also yes those both look like girls here is a link if you want to look for yourself https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/463817/easter-egger-sexing-tips-and-tricks-pictures-included from what i know the boys have less patterned feathering it is hard to tell the gender on easter eggers though :)

These are, indeed, Easter Eggers - but Ameraucanas are not rumpless - that would be the Araucana,

Were they listed as Americanas with the "i" in the spelling or was that more of a matter of you spelling it as it sounds? Believe it or not that does matter as the misspelled version is often a good tell-tale sign that you are getting EE as a true breeder of Ameraucanas would use the proper spelling. A good rule of thumb is if it is coming from a feed store, hatchery, etc it is an EE no matter what the label says - with the exception of one major hatchery I am aware of that sells true Ameraucanas. Generally, if you read the fine print on the description on a hatchery's page you see them come out and say that they are an "Ameraucana mix" or "have some Ameraucana blood", etc.

Give it a couple of weeks and post new pictures and you'll get some pretty good feedback on gender, at the moment they look like pullets to me.

Feed stores by "sexed pullets" from the hatcheries. They are vent sexed by the hatchery as day old chicks and there is a 5-10% "error" rate because of the complexity of vent sexing - so there is always a chance of getting a surprise roo when buying baby chicks if they are not actual sex-linked hybrids (crosses that hatch with males one color/pattern, females another) which EE are not.

There is no breed called "Americanas".

This is marketing nonsense designed to confuse folks, for the most part. Gimmickry. There is nothing wrong with selling chicks as Easter Eggers, a common mutt/mixed bird that lays a nice, colorful egg. Nothing wrong with that at all. But, the attempt to sound like the name of the genuine breeds is just a confusion game in my book and I've seen it at hatchery websites, feed stores, personal Craigslist, etc.

If your birds are healthy and lay colorful eggs, it's all good.

X2. There is a very good article on the differences between Araucanas, Ameraucanas, Easter Eggers, and Olive Eggers at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html

Depending on your reasons for ordering them in the first place, you may actually be happier with the Easter Eggers than with Ameraucanas. They will likely outlay Ameraucanas and will probably lay some eggs in colors other than just blue.
