Just want some confirmation on gender

I know they are young but I have been trying to put all the wonderful information provided on BYC to use and see if I can determine the gender of my 6 Speckled Sussex and 2 EE chicks.

I think I have it figured out to be 5 pullets and 3 roos (good gosh I hope it's not the other way around LOL).

These chicks are approximately 4 weeks old. They were all separated from each other for pics for they kind of stood at attention as everyone was calling for the missing chick :/

I tried to go by shape, feathering out, patterns and leg/shank size. The last three chicks seems to have slightly thicker shanks and bigger feet.

Pullet? I know she has a lot of white but she is the most feathered out.

pullet? This EE has a 3 rowed comb that can clearly be seen but her color/pattern indicates female? That is unless she happens to develop a black chest?

No one has any input? I'm hoping I'm right but would feel better with the input of some of you. Especially if you see something that in not that indicates the opposite sex I'm thinking.

4 weeks is kinda young to get an accurate assessment of the gender for these chicks. Give it another month or so and you will have all the opinions you want

That EE with the three lined comb might be a rooster. I remember the first time I had EEs. I was miffed. They all look like partridges. I had heard they were colorful birds. Well, as they got older (than 4 weeks), they developed their own colors from white/black to red/brown. There is a good chance that the 3 rowed comb will develop some red/orange splashes in the wings and be a roo. I do however see a lot of combs on your 4 week old birds. Just be patient.. were they purchased as all pullets? Lack of tail does not mean it will be a roo. Here is one of mine that had no tail for the longest time. SHE is approximately 4-5 weeks in the photo. (sorry it is bad quality)

I would wait a bit like Aragon suggested. Easter Eggers can be difficult to guess and you'll drive yourself batty trying to guess!

Thank you both. I think I am beyond driving myself batty LOL. I look at them and think pullet/roo, next time I'm like "wait roo/pullet". I'm gonna lose my mind I think.

I was just trying to guess based on feathering most, like bald wing bows, slow feathering around chest/crop and lack of tails to see if I could determine if there are any roos.That was how my last roo developed, very distinct bald or "fluff" areas where all the girls already had feathers. I am almost 100% certain the last one is a roo. It seems to fit all the typical things to look for, even has big feet and thick legs compared to the rest, especially for his size as he is the smallest in the group.

Well I am glad to hear that the lack of tails might still be pullets. That gives me hope on #4 and #5 which have more feathering than #6 (but could also just be a day or two older?).

After looking them all over again I notice the EE with the 3 row comb also doesn't have back feathers, just fluff, so now I am kind of thinking roo :/ I just hope I didn't get dooped into buying all roosters.

They weren't listed as pullets but the guy said he has a neighbor who sexes them for him and she keeps back the roosters for herself so they should be all pullets but in hindsight I think he just wanted me to buy what was left.

I think their combs look bigger in these pics than they actually do in person IDK why.

It's hard to wait, but with some chicks you just don't know until later.

They sure have changed quite a bit in the last 2 weeks. Still leaning towards the same genders I posted above except for the EE, I think that might be a roo, holding out hope for a pullet but it's not much lol.

Still feel this is DEFINITELY a roo. He has so many bald/fuzzy patches compared to everyone else and still absolutely NO tail. Plus he runs around the yard calling all the other birds during their supervised free range time.

5-6-7 look like possible cockerels, I would keep an eye on them
