Hillsborough County, Florida: Legalize Backyard Chickens!

766 signatures as of today! I just signed it. I'll be closing on our new home in Valrico next month and want chickens. It would be so nice!
 
This is the latest response I received. I think they forget they are elected officials.

Thank you for contacting our office.

With regard to the restrictions placed on owning backyard hens in residential areas within unincorporated Hillsborough County, Commissioner Hagan directed staff to review the ordinance and bring back recommendations. The item was discussed during the September 13, 2016 Land Use Meeting and there was no direction given to initiate any changes to the current prohibition on chickens in residential zoning districts.

It is unlikely that the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioner will revisit this item any time in the near future.
