i have a year old splash (?) Wyandotte. I've had her for about a month. She's had this lump on her cheek the whole time. It's the same temperature as the rest of her head/face. It's relatively hard. It doesn't seem to cause her any discomfort. It doesn't seem to change size. I had all my birds on tetracycline for a week, then oxytetracycline for an additional week for a respiratory thing. It didn't affect the lump, so I don't think it's an infection. Any ideas?

I'm not really a chicken cheek expert per-se but it looks pretty benign. It doesn't look infected, it looks more like a lump of scar tissue from some prior injury or a cyst. As long as it doesn't change then I wouldn't think its a problem.

Hope she does well!

Nothing too unusual. Some crud in the corner as well as a couple of black spots. Both by the lump. Looks like old food mash and some nearly healed scabs? Maybe she injured the inside and it's healing. The lump actually looks a bit smaller today, too.

Thanks for the info! I'm sorry about your cockerel. My hen's lump wasn't nearly that bad on the inside. And it wasn't ever hot to the touch. It's shrinking a little every day. Hopefully itc completely gone by winter.
