I'm so glad you haven't had anymore problems. The coop is good. We finished it this past weekend and so far so good. We haven't had any other problems. I still let the flock out during the day (if I'm here) and keep them closed up tight at night. So far this seems to be working out. I really hope it does.

We have some chicks right now. A set of 9 that I purchased. We call these guys the Midi group and we have some babies that I hatched from eggs out of my yard. These guys are the bitty group.

I'm so sorry for your freaked out girl. Hawks are definitely neat birds, but when one is as crazy about her chicken flock as I, I would much rather see them far away from my backyard.

We had a possum get one of our half grown chickens at our last (rented) house. Our new house is better, as I built a great chicken run with a covered roof to keep our everything. We do have some big ugly possums down here in South Florida.
 
Another critter you wouldn't think as a preditor, SKUNK ! We started smelling it around my barn.

PU ! And how do you get rid of them ? We called our neighbor and friend and said "if we trap a skunk, will you come and get him ? He said "do what ???" LOL

Wow. I hope I don't have any skunk. A few years back I use to see skunk in our area but not at my place.

I hope you good luck getting rid of the skunk.
