She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

SC, would smack the crap out of me if I saw how I have to take care of these babies! They imprint on you and it's no joke!! They cry for me and if I leave the lid off (I had to make a lid out of scrap wood and hardware cloth for the brooder because they flew out at 5 days old) they fly over to the couch! Then they like to fly on my sons heads'. And they like to snuggle up in my hair and go to sleep. Every night they cry their heads off until I literally put them to bed. I gave them one of the baby's fleece blankets. I take them and wrap them up tight in the blanket and they go to sleep for the night and don't come out until they hear me making coffee in the morning. I feel bad. They are not like chicken chicks. They need a mother!

Omg how sweet is that? Totally adorable! How are you ever going to give them up? Haha Sounds like alot of work though! Lol
(and if he smacks you for it, dont worry, I think you have plenty of us that will smack him back with you!)

We have a biological incubator running out at the farm at the minute. Apparently the kids have been finding the nest untended with the eggs cold occasionally but we will see what happens.

Okie dokie, have 2 pips so far. Day 20.
Back on the phone now so can post some picks of my first hatchlings.

well look at me, managed to post more than one pick. Check out poor little bubbles, she is holding her own.
Awesome!

Well, guys, we got the eggs set tonight!Woo-hoo!!
Hubs did a great job on the gutting and resurrection, and it's holding very steady(right between 99.5 and 100.5). We were extremely pleased with Incubatorwarehouse, as well as the incukit(so far).
So here goes something. Guess we will see if my assumptions were right and I stick with team red or if we end up in the middle. Don't think I can pull off being team blue, I'm really itching to candle(and caress, and kiss and name) these eggs.
Sorry to be so MIA, but things are busy around here right now, I haven't been able to keep up with you guys!
Updates to follow!!squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Good luck!!

I would have culled the entire egg yesterday. I don't want anything after day 23. Honestly, based on your philosophy, I'm surprised you're even trying. Day 24 complicated hatch? I would cull
Late hatchers like that, especially ones that need assisting are most likely going to have developmental problems especially leg problems.

Eggs a plenty.

First pip. The 2nd one is barely detectable.

This first one is a cuckoo marans and the 2nd is a black copper marans. I have my niece here watching this hatch. She is loving it as she was with me when I bought the eggs.
Yay!!

All the veining gone and no more movement noticed. I think....its from my manual turning....is there a certain way you turn the eggs?
NO!!!! That's not good!!! My best two hatches were actually the ones I manually turned.

I just had one like that except is was a peafowl egg. Please update, I'm curious to see if it makes progress on its own. I waited 24 hours then assisted.
I liked this story! I saw the whole thing in my head. Good to know a way to get a predator!
Yes!!! I've noticed this. The paper towel gets freezing cold almost instantly and then makes the humidity in the incubator skyrocket to 100%. I was not a fan of the paper towel last time!
What color are the eggs? I'm thinking there's a red ring in there that may be hard to see. I hand turn all my eggs (no auto turner) x & o, just twist from one side to the other.
I always use the wet paper towel. The warm humidity keeps it from getting too cold. During hatch if you open my bator you're going to get feel warmth.

It is going to be so hard giving them up. Well, then again, if they are as bad as I've heard with their screetching-maybe not...lol And count me in on the slap backs.

I have a question for the Janoel knock off users. Anyone know how to reset the humidity alarm so it doesn't go off or goes off at a lower percentage?

And has anyone seen @lazy gardener lately?

Ive had to toss 3/22 eggs now and my bathroom stinks so im gna hafta gind a culprit again. I screwed up yesterday, i only Mopped the bathroom... but the humidity spiked... :'(

Thanks for that! Yes, it is a vertical weld, and a stress fractured butt joint on 2mm steel. I left a slightly less than 1mm gap between the two pieces but had no penetration, so I think I was just getting all jumpy and not giving the welder contact time do its job. I got about 90 percent coverage of the fracture but the repair doesn't show through on the back so there is no strength. I'll be working on it again this afternoon, and as per the manual the welder is a bit undersized for the job, I'll drill a series of eight holes in the frame rail, four through the new bar, then bolt and plug weld the 3mm repair stock in place. It will be inside the frame rail so I won't be able to weld around it. I'll also take my time, raise the power, and adjust the wire feed to make a nice puddle.

I do get what you mean...instead of stitching left to right like a zig zag, stitch toward and away, kind of like a sewing machine normally sews.

you can do it either way migs are hard to use the plating will do the job on its own where welding will not for that very reason and what your welding is hard to weld might practice on a beer can

I do it on heavy metal and my brother in law does the thin stuff for me. a backing plate helps to stop blow out . but you got this cause you rock.

Wow, you wouldn't think about something as simple as mopping would throw off the humidity that much, but if the room is closed up it does make sense.

Yea, i mean obiously that Had to of been the issue. I saw a 40% jump that lasted im making an educated guess, about 3 hours. The bathrooms tiny, closed off, i dont have central air And i should have expected a humidity spike, shouldnt mop while incubating, lesson learned. Its Sooo my fault, i screwed up like i said, and im pretty upset w myself for it.
